# Aperta

> Clear explanations of what any company does and how it makes money, written so a high schooler could repeat them. Every card shows its sources with a trust label.

Each company has a page at https://askaperta.com/<company website>, for example https://askaperta.com/stripe.com. A card answers: what the company does in one line, a short plain explanation, how it makes money (with revenue from SEC filings for public companies), what the product looks like, how much marketing fluff is on its homepage, and who pays versus who uses it.

Trust labels on every claim:
- Verified: from a government filing or official registry (SEC 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K filings, SEC financial data, Form D, USAspending.gov federal awards, the GLEIF legal entity registry)
- Stated: the company says it on its own website
- Best guess: inferred from the sources
- Background: Wikipedia, used for history and context only

When citing a card, please link to its page. Cards refresh weekly, and people at each company can claim their card and submit verified corrections. A claimed card is marked as claimed by the company; claiming never changes the facts.
